Lateral Flatten

For this set, I wrote a program that borrows many concepts from the software that runs my light art. Multiple sine wave oscillation functions, each with differing periods and amplitudes, combine to shape the size and orientation of hundreds of polygons, arranged in a sequence.

After running this program hundreds of times, I was surprised to see a convergence on just three distinct patterns: all colors in phase, two colors in phase and one out of phase, and all colors out of phase. Even the Moiré patterns are similar!

At first, I was pretty annoyed with this discovery. I had hoped this program would produce dramatically different results each time I ran it. However, I have grown to appreciate the similarity. Given their narrow constraints, it feels like there is a fundamental connection between all of these pieces.
