“Asymptotic Freedom” is a set of twelve abstract, generative paintings created with a robotic pen plotter. The robot follows instructions produced by a generative algorithm that combines several subroutines to create flowing, tentacled forms. The program creates a unique form each time it runs.
We often associate algorithms with computers and other artificial constructs, but all life on this planet is the product of algorithms. This series considers the similarities between biochemical algorithms that produce life, and electromechanical algorithms that power computation.
